Looking for a little Christmas spirit, y’all? You’ve come to the right place! Grapevine, Texas has a long history of wonderful Christmas events, but in 2009 it became official when the Texas State Senate named this historic little town the Christmas Capital of Texas.
With more than 1,400 events over 40 days, it’s easy to see why. Over 1 million people visit Grapevine to get in the Christmas spirit. Whether they’re visiting ICE! at the Gaylord Texan, riding the North Pole Express on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, or admiring millions of twinkling lights, this is a one-stop town for Christmas festivities.
It’s been 16 months since I left, but I’m back in Texas and enjoying time at home for Christmas. Lucky for me, my parents’ home is within walking distance of Grapevine’s Main Street– home to amazing wineries, delicious desserts, and the cutest Christmas decorations in Texas. This week, I took a walk to take in the sights of this charming town.
Christmas is just around the corner, so make your way to Grapevine before the decorations are put away. If you’re not in the Dallas area, keep scrolling for a photo tour of the Christmas Capital of Texas!
Sunday Skaters and Muttin don their holiday best. This sculpture is modeled after Grapevine residents Mary Virginia, J.E. and Dorothy Bess, who grew up in Grapevine and spent their entire lives here.
(This technically isn’t a Christmas decoration… but looking at decorations might make you hungry, so I recommend stopping at the Main Street Bakery for a cronut!)
These cute snowmen come to life for regular performances. Catch their songs and jokes every few minutes.
Woah, looks like soooo much fun. What happens in Grapevine the rest of the year? Regular population of?
It’s still the cutest little town! Population of just over 50,000 and known for wines, a weekly farmer’s market and fun shops 🙂
So glad you are back home – at least for while! It is hard to think it has been 16 months since you left. I can imagine that you look at life differently. I was sorry I couldn’t come to your welcome back party, but really look forward to talking to you in person sometime soon. Merry Christmas and much love. Marylyn
